Hi
I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this for me (or is it just me having a blond moment!!!)
In 1841 Sarah Wiseman is 12, living at home with Thomas and Esther and siblings and Edward Goddard 19 lodging there. They were living in Rippleside(?) Dagenham
1845 Sarah Wiseman married Edward Goddard in Poplar district
1851 Ripple(?) Edward and Sarah are with their 2 children, Emma and Esther
1851 Rippleside Dagenham Thomas and Esther have Sarah in their household aswell although it does say she is married.
Is it possible that the same person could be listed twice?
Many thanks
Suziq ??

Yes..... I have seen the same thing on the census's many times before.

Hi
It looks as if they may just have listed all their children. Apart from the name, the only other difference is that Sarah Goddard says she was born in Barking, but they say Sarah Wiseman was born in Upney.

Hi
If it helps your deliberations, Upney is part of Barking and is near to Rippleside Cemetery [opened 1886].

yes suzi q it is possible, either there was a vist to another address on the night of the census or shortly thereafter.
have you checked the two address'es, dob's and occupation's for comparison for this seeming anomaly? tony.

Hi
Edward and Sarah(Wiseman) Goddard are my Great-Great-Great Grandparents. Do you know the surname of Edwards mother? Edward was baptised in St Peter and St Paul's in Dagenham 1823 and his parents were recorded as 'Edward and Sarah'. Edward and Sarah's(Wiseman) son Isaac, my Great-Great-Great Grandfather, left Dagenham to move to London and was a Police Constable there.
Many thanks

Hi
I'm afraid I don't know the name of Edward's father. I am doing this tree for a friend of mine. Edward and Sarah are her great, great grandparents. Their daughter Emily 1872 was her greatgrandmother.
Sorry I can't be of more help

Hi Suzie
it is very much possible and not just the 1851 census :-) I have someone who is listed twice on the 1881 Census
Rachel Maria Rusgrove b 1849 is listed as a patient in hospital at Birmingham (as Rachel Maria Rusgrove)
and also with her husband Thomas in Harborne (listed as Rachel Rusgrove)

I have also got somebody in the 1881 Census twice!
Richard Bertolle (photographer) is at home with his wife Susannah and child in Lincolnshire - AND he is also in London with a James Pain and wife Elizabeth. How odd until I discovered his wife Susannah, and James' wife Elizabeth, were sisters.
I'm backing the fact he was actually in London that night, and his wife just decided she ought to say he lived in Lincolnshire!
Bet it happens all the time!
