Hello everyone,
I am hoping someone will be able to look up a death notice in a local newspaper for me please for bradford. I have a William Archer who died in Bradford in J,A,S Quarter of 1931 aged 78. I got this info from freebmd and i am hoping it is the right William Archer. Sorry but i don't have a precise date of death, just the quarter. His wife was called Mary Jane but i am not too sure yet when she died.
I would be very grateful indeed if someone is in the local library or archives and can have a look for me. I live in Newcastle so cant get to Bradford myself.
My fingers are firmly crossed.
By the way, if its any help, the last address i have for him is from the 1911 census.......It was 16 Farnley Street, Bradford (possibly in a place called Laisterdyke???)
I don't think that street exists now as i cant find any record of it. Does anyone from the area know otherwise i wonder???
Thanks again everyone
John.

FreeBMD has the death of 3 Mary J Archers between 1920 and 1960 in West Yorkshire.......
Spen Valley District - died March 1944 aged 77
Rother Valley District - died March 1946 aged 72
Halifax District - died December 1952 aged 76
Farnley Street in Laisterdyke (Bradford) certainly did exist at some time as I have seen other records of other peoples' ancestors living there......can't find it now though on Google maps....

Hi Mc
Thanks very much for that info. I have found out that William Archer died on 19 Sept 1931 in bradford. He was still at Farnley Street. I would love to know if there is a death notice in a local paper for him.
It looks like his wife Mary Jane actually died in 1913 in sunderland during the J A S quarter. Not sure what she died of yet but her son and his family lived in the north east so i am assuming she was up there visiting from bradford when she died. A bradford death notice for her would be great too, but like i say i don't have an exact date for her.
Thanks very much for your efforts.
John.

Hi everyone,
I am still hoping someone can help me by finding a death notice for me for William Archer from the date i gave above please?????
However, the info i wrote about his wife Mary Jane Archer has proved to be wrong.....she was the wrong one, so i currently dont know for sure when she died.......yet.
But i would really be grateful if someone could find out about William for me if you are already looking for one for yourself.
Thanks very much
John.

Hi Saltandpepper,
I have found the death notice in the Telegraph and Argus 21 September 1931 page 8.
Archer-on september19 at 16 Farnley street, William, the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Archer aged 78 years.
Cortege will leave the above address on Tuesday September 22 at 2.40 for internment at Bowling Cemetery.
Friends accept this (the only) intimation.
I am sorry but i did not have time to look in the burial database, it was getting late and someone else was searching the collection.
if you would like me to look for the grave let me know.
if you want a photo of the newspaper announcement PM me with your email address and i will forward it to you.
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy, That is brilliant!!!!!
I have just done a load of look ups for people here in Newcastle, so its really good to get the favour returned. At least now i know that his wife Mary Jane did die before him....i just need to find out when??
I will send you my e mail add in a private message if you dont mind.
Also, if you are back there another day could i possibly be cheeky and ask you to look in the burials section for me please, that would be brill to have that too.
Do you know where this Bowling Cemetery actually is?? I am from Newcastle you see, so i don't know that neck of the woods.
Thanks again Andy
Your help is really appreciated
John
