Hi
Can someone please tell me how do you find out if a person left a will in Scotland? I have an Archibald James Lynes who died in 1998 in Edinburgh.
Hope someone can help

The National Archives of Scotland would be a good place to enquire, see their guidance notes here www.nas.gov.uk/guides/wills.asp

Thanks Monica for that, Is there a way of finding out if he left one without it costing you anything? I realise to view a copy it would cost

Hi Warwickshire Bear,
I tried a search online, but no result for will, but there is a record on a divorce in 1971 for Archibald James Lynes. You may have to contact NAS by phone to check if will is stored there.

Thanks Tom, That's great I didn't know about the divorce, how do I find out who he married to or any children?

Hi Warwickshire Bear,
The record is held in the NAS, but info online says
"National Archives of Scotland Reference CS258/1971/2999
Doris Hewitt Osborn or Lynes v Archibald James Lynes:
Divorce Dates 1971
Access status Open"
Hope this helps and not too much of a shock.
