???
Looking for birth details of PERCIVAL RICHARD PRATT BORN between 1828-1833 in Essex, England.
I can find him in 1841/51/61/71/81 and his place of birth varies from Belcham, Little Yeldham & Fulham - all in Essex.
1841 he was in a boarding school in Suffolk aged 13 - so no parent's names.
Percival died in the first quarter of 1886, age given was 53 yrs.
Can anyone help me solve this dilemma BIG PLEASE ;D.
Thanks and regards, Maggie - Australia

Hi
What details does his marriage give about his father?
Marriages Dec 1856
Barratt Sophia Maria Bedford 3b 745
Pratt Percival Richard Bedford 3b 745
He gives Belcham as his birthplace on the 1851 census but Yeldham (Little on the 1881 census) on all subsequent censuses. Little Yeldham and the villages of Belchamp St Paul, Belchamp Otten and Belchamp Walter are all adjacent.
There are Pratt families living in Belchamp Otten on the censuses or giving a birthploace of this village.

Thank you so much Valda for your advice. I have searched and searched and cannot find PERCIVAL RICHARD PRATT.
I do not have a copy of the Marriage Certificate.
With his different birthdates and places of birth, it is difficult. I have searched the IGI's as well.
He has to be somewhere?
Again thanks for your interest. With regards Maggie

Hi Maggie,
You need to buy the Marriage Cert to go any further with your Percival.
If he is your main line there is no other way around it.
Trish :)

Thank you Trish - I was trying to get away with not having to purchase another certificate, but you're right.
Thanks again.

Hi Maggie,
I have tried every resource I have and cant find him!
When you get the cert let us know and then we can try and trace further back :)
This has me intrigued.

Hi
The IGI coverage of Essex parishes is relatively poor in comparison to many other counties (more not covered than covered). The IGI doesn't appear to have any coverage of the baptisms of the parishes you are interested in for the period you are interested in. Have you searched through either Little Yeldham or the Belchamp baptism parish registers, the more likely of the Belchamps being Otten Belchamp? His age varies by up to 2 years on each census but no more.
The microfilms of the parish registers can be ordered and viewed at your local family history centre.

Or have you requested a search of the Essex baptism index 1780-1840 and that has also proved fruitless?

All the Belchamp parishes are covered as well as Little Yeldham.
