Hi
I have just found this site and I have been researching my family. My GG Grandather William Ross Wood, born 1860, came to America in late 1800's. His father was John Wood and mother was Margaret Ross. the Census of 1881 showed John and family living in a cottage in Brotherton Gardens benholm kincardine and shows him as a gardener. I saw the post of JEANP which I think is a church record and wondered if there was any other information on John and Margaret Ross Wood, burial, parents, census etc.
Regards

scotlandspeople has death margaret wood(other surname ross) montrose
angus b. c1835(can't tell from the index if wood or ross is maiden name)
the IGI has margaret ross birth 6th july 1835 baptism 24th july 1835 udny
aberdeen parents william ross and jane clark
i note that margaret wood gives her birthplace as udny on the 1881 census
although her age is 40
also names of children are william and jeannie in 1881
really need the 1867 marriage certificate to get back further
or the 1891/1901 census for further clues for death/burial

Hello,
It was some time ago that you posted so I hope this message finds you. My ggg grandparents were John Wood and Margaret Ross married Old Machar 1867. They had a son John Wood who married Helen Smart Bisset and that is who I am descended from. I also have Margaret's parents as Jane Clark and William Ross, and her marriage certificate to John says she was living at South Affleck, Whiterashes Aberdeenshire at the time of marriage, and John Wood was a gardener living at Hatton Castle in Turriff. Let me know if you have found anything else out. Lucy
