hi i am trying to find my grandfather with little success, he has a very common surname (PARKER). the only thing i know for sure is that he married AGNES GAWTHORPE in 1916 in Leeds. his father is named as James on the marriage cert and occupation is given as STRIKE. my grandfathers name is William and his birthdate is believed to have been circa 1897. i have found all of William and Agnes children but because the name William Parker is so common in yorkshire i am having trouble locating the right one there is no one i can ask and i dint just want to send off for birth certs until i am almost certain of having the right one. any ideas what else i can do

Hi
You could try and find them in the 1901 census and see where they lived and see if you can find them in the local church.

Can we have the full details from the marriage certificate? Ages, occupations, address and the names of witnesses? Every snippet helps. When and where did he die? That certificate may give a birth date. The names of his children may hold clues too.
