Hi
I am creating my family tree which is based around Co. Donegal and Londonderry in Ireland. But I have lost one person Samuel BLACK, I believe he is Samuel Joseph BLACK born 1919 in Convoy, Co Donegal, Registration area Letterkenny. I know he resided in Londonderry during the late 1930's but that is where I have lost him.
I have found a Samuel Joseph Black death registered in Cardiff July 2001, it would appear that this person was born 1919, is there any chance this is the same person.
Any help appreciated.

Hi
I would say it's a very strong possibility. Shown as b 10.11.1919 but there is no English/Welsh birth listed on freebmd

Joseph Samuel Black was b June qtr 1920 Letterkenny Volume 2 Page 129
Reversal of his names can throw up the wrong info. If the above is the correct birth registration - then the 2001 death is not him

Thanks for your help I guess its back to the drawing board again. I am new to this, can I ask is there a possibility that he was born on 10th Nov 1919 but the birth was not registered until the June qtr 1920.
The PRONI office is currently closed due to them moving but I see it opens again next month. I also have just got a lead on a marriage in N Ireland I hope this might give me a few mores leads.
Thanks again for your help - it is appreciated.

Births in late November/December of one year could be registered after Christmas and appear in the March quarter of the following year but I doubt they would appear as late as the June qtr
As far as I know - births have to be registered within 42 days
The June qtr covers registrations from 1st April - 30th June
