Can I ask if anyone visits the cemetery, I would love a photo of my ancestors sisters grave. Dorothea Doyle plot C, grave number 98, buried with her husband John.
I live in Australia so pretty hard just to pop in and look for it.
If someone could help I would be most appreciative.

Hi
Because of the very size of Ladywell cemetery, some of which is overgrown, you would need a map.
The advice from North West Kent Family History Society website
'If you want to find a particular gravestone you're very unlikely to succeed by just turning up and searching, unless you have further information beforehand. The cemetery is huge and parts of it are overgrown or wooded. The best approach is probably to contact the Cemetery Office at Lewisham Crematorium, 1 Verdant Lane, London SE6 1TP.'
http://www.nwkfhs.org.uk/ladywell.htm
which also links to the Friends of Ladywell and Brockley website.
You would need at least a map of the cemetery to try to find the plot. Do you know for definite whether a gravestone was erected?

yes I got this response from the Lewisham Bereavement services ' The grave is a
first class grave with a head and curbs on landing'.
but as to what condition it is in these days I have no idea.
thanks for the link to the friends of ladywell, i might contact them.
thanks

I went to Ladywell Cemetery last year to find my Great Grandmother's grave, which is also in Area C. This is clearer than the other areas as it is near the front gate (The Lodge) but bits of are still over grown and the plot numbering is a bit eccentric!
I have a map of the Cemetery and have tried to post it on here but it is too large. If you want me to send it to you, please PM me.

Hello justpeachy,
Are you still looking for the photo?
I don't normally frequent this board, which is a bit of a shame, because I was at Ladywell yesterday.
It's not the best time of the year to search Ladywell and I can't see her name on the NWKFHS transcript, but next time I go, I can have a look for you. Low number graves are usually traceable, if there are enough kerbstones still in place.

thankyou so much for your offer forester, I was very lucky that Sydenhamer found the grave and took some photos, which I will be forever grateful for.
So many wonderful people willing to help others, if there is anything I could offer in return I would.
Just for further information her name is deciphered as Dokye or something like that on the transcrript.
Thankyou once again you are both such generous people :)

It's under DOYWK. No wonder I couldn't see it.
Still, I'm glad you've got your photos.
