Ida Sinclair was my Great Grandmothers half sister.
Her half sister was Mary Jane Beatty, who was born in Cavan Ireland, and her father was William BEatty a farmer.
There are variations in the spelling of both Beatty/ Beaty/ Beattie & Sinclair/Stclair/stclare
She emigrated to Australia, we believe in the early 1900's.
My great Uncle Stephen Nalty went out to Australia to live and stayed with her for some time.
We don't know where she lived; or if she married or had family.
Would love to know what happened to her.
Trying to piece together family mysteries for a family tree I am doing for my Mum.
Thank you for reading.
Best Wishes from Leamington Spa, in the UK

Do I understand she was known as IDA SINCLAIR, not IDA BEATTY?
If her father was WILLIAM BEATTY, why was she SINCLAIR?

Hello there
Welcome to Rootschat Australian Board
Can you please give us a bit more on her
When and where was she born and what were her parents names?
Do you know if she had a middle name at all?
Did she marry a Sinclair or perhaps she was born Sinclair?
A possible death
reg no 5584/1976
NALTY STEPHEN
father EDWARD mother MARY JANE

Hello,
Thank you for your responses.
William Beatty would have been Ida Sinclair's step dad. Apparently he remarried after his wife died - no dates, but sometime after 1876, which was When MAry Jane Beatty, his daughter, was born..
We do not know the name of the step Mum - Ida's Mum. My Gt Gran apparently never spoke of her, only to say she despised her!
She allegedly went to Australia, possibley from the UK, rather than Ireland?
She possibley lived in Sydney, which it seems is where my great Uncle may have settled.
She, as far as we know kept the name Sinclair.
She is probably several spellings of Ida/ Aida, Ada Sinclair/Stclair.
We assume that she was born in Cavan, Ireland, but seems to be no record of her.
I wsh I could give you more informatiobn.
Thanks for all your help.
Much appreciated
