Title: MOORE FAMILY 1800-1852
Post by: gumdropz on Thursday 21 April 05 02:40 BST (UK)
I'm trying to find some information on my ancestors who apparently lived in Dublin for some time. George Ogle Moore represented the City of Dublin in Parliament from 1826-1831.  ( not to be confused with George Ogle)

In his death notice it stated he was formally from Cork, but passed away in Bath, Sommerset. He was married to Elizabeth Armstrong in Armagh in 1800.

He and his wife had several children including my g/g/grandfather, John Moore who was born in 1802. One of John's sons (my g/grandfather) was Ogle James Moore , born Dublin in 1837.

John was married to Elizabeth Jones and the family came to Australia in 1852.

The name of 'Ogle 'is quite prominent in the ealry line of the males and I'm wondering if someone may be able to help me find the missing links. It is a known fact that one of the Moore women somewhere along the line, married the famous George Ogle and that is where the name came from originally, but I'm yet to establish the connection.
I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

Hello gumdropz,

I'm certain there must be some more information about your ancestors as they appear to have made a small mark in Ireland so I've linked this thread to the following threads ...

The  Moore family of Kilbride Manor and Kilbride Cottage  (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=284940.msg1681365#msg1681365) on RootsChat Co. Wicklow board.

Thanks for the info Christopher, I was the actual author of both of those posts.
I am still looking for information even after 3 years of writing those!! Can you believe that??!

I have been told that a lot of Irish information was lost in a fire? Is that correct? The dates I'm searching are 1800 to about 1852.

Hello gumdropz,

It is true that a lot of Irish information was lost in the fire at the Four Courts in Dublin during the Civil War in 1922 ... however there are still some records available http://freespace.virgin.net/owston.tj/irel.htm... There should be some information in Ireland and more than likely some at Bath, Somerset  Free Irish BDM'S on Family History Magazine and Practical Family History http://tiny.cc/ukrDQ contains useful informarion about the family.
