Title: MACINTOSH, North Carolina
Post by: Eleesavet on Wednesday 09 March 11 06:23 GMT (UK)
I would like to make contact with anyone researching MacIntosh families who emigrated from the Isle of Skye to North Carolina.

"Ancestry World Tree Project: Some Early Families of Eastern North Carolina" gives details of MacIntosh families from the Isle of Sky who settled in North Carolina.

In particular, I am trying to find if these MacIntoshes are related to the MacIntoshes who lived in Mugary (Mugarry, Mugeary), Portree, Isle of Skye.

There are two McIntosh families from the Isle of Skye in the McIntosh DNA project database.  Google McIntosh DNA project.  They appear to be unrelated.

My own family were in the Isle of Skye.  My GGGrandfather was the first police man on Skye.  He is William MacIntosh in the 1841 census of Portree.  In 1851 he is in Snizort with his wife Alexandrina (MacLeod born about 1818) and son John Duncan.  William was from Glenurquhart originally.
