Title: Searching for the CONQUERs

I Hope some body can help me. My family "Conquer' lived for the most part in Hertfordshire. before emigrating to Australia where I am in the early 1900's.
I have always thought the Conquers came to England from France Via Scotland (maybe fighting for Scotland along the way.
My Problem; I have Benjamin R Conquer 1877-1942 who came to Australia,
His Father - Benjamin Josiah Conquer 1838-1906 - Wife Martha Bateson - Hemel Hempstead,
His father - Benjamin Conquer 1804-1861 - Sarah L Stephens - Hemel Hempstead,
His father - John Conquer 1780 1837 - Sarah Campion - Hemel Hempstead,
His father - Richard Conquer bef 1755? - Hannah Rogers - Hertford,
I believe His Father was  John Conquer (bef 1735?) (wife Elizabeth unknown) but I don't know where he came from, I think Scotland.

Any help would be greatfully received.

hi found a christening for a john conquer 9 dec 1739 northchurch hertfordshire parents john and elizabeth.

Thanks for taking the time Alan,

I got John Conquer's (senior) birth date wrong. I was thinking of Richard and not the whole family.
I neglected to add John & Elizabeth's Children,
John Conquer 1739-1832
Elizabeth Conquer 1742-
Mary Conquer 1743-
William Conquer 1745-
Richard Conquer 1755-1806
This puts their father, John Conquer's birth date approx 1720 or before I Guess.

             Found a john christened 8 march 1724 ormiston east lothian scotland parents john conquer & elspeth huntar they had 3 other children alexander 1729.margaret 1721 thomas 1726. hope this helps.

Thanks Alan,

I have come across him myself. It puts him at around the right age is not a little young. My searches on him have come to a blank as I can't find a marrage or children associated with him. Any one that has him in a tree shows a dead end.
Perhaps some one will see this and be able to fill the gaps.
