Hi

can anyone help me find any information on the Mapp family particularly George Mapp born c 1842 Birmingham and who his parents were i think he married someone called Elizabeth their children are as follows
Elsie Elizabeth b 1886
Mary Rhoda b 1877
Gertrude Annie b 1875
Hannah Cecillia b 1872
George Joseph b 1800
all born warwickshire
any information on anyone would be fantastic

George Mapp married in Birmingham in 1870, apparently aged about 5 years younger than Elizabeth. She could be either Elizabeth Brant or Elizabeth Alcock. If you buy the marriage certificate it will give you his father's name and also her father's name. Since he was under 21 when married it is likely that his parents will be witnesses as well.

On the 1891 census he gives his year of birth as 1853

the problem is there are 2 George Mapp on 61 census  1842 and 1852 so which age is right for him.

If the 71 census is your man then this could be him in 1861 with parents

The 1842 George Mapp was born Colwich Staffs and was training to be an elementary teacher on 61 census.

iam pretty sure he was born 1842 and coal dealer sounds familiar his son George Joseph worked on the railway if thats any help sorry i dont know any more information

It looks like George married Elizabeth Alcock in 1870 as Elizabeth Brant was born Upton Snodsbury Worsc and appears to marry Charles Blizard.

Take my tip - buy the marriage certifiacte since you know that is correct. Lots of infirmation possible on there.
