It is unbelievable, they have run out of ambulances and are using police cars
I did text Newbe .... but haven't heard back as yet.
Love, hugs and prayers to all the wonderful folk in Christchurch. :-*
Desperately waiting to hear from members of our family.

PS: Hi Suzy - thanks for your concern :) - I'm actually in Wellington, but so terribly worried for our family who are in the midst of this horror. ~ Lu

And they're expecting more deaths once they get into that office building.
I just feel so damned helpless.
... always get some inane questions all in the name of a news story!!
added ... inane isn't strong enough... I know!
Some of the questions they come out with ....... wonder where they got their interviewing skills from.
The news has just reported that there may be a final total of 200-400 deaths. So many families torn apart by this tragedy.
Haven't had a recent update Kimberly, she was in the city earlier in the afternoon and replied to a text or two from others ....
It was sad to see my home town crumble as it did today, many hugs to my fellow cantabrians, I sincerely hope you are safe, well and find all your families the same. Unfortunately I was there in Sept last year and got that one....I can imagine some of your anxiety. Let us hope it all ends SOON!!
I haven't read all the posts... does anyone know how Newbe is?

Looks like a bit of tidying up there, Annie.......... at least it is only tidying up and nothing major.
Last week lyndahirst_1 contacted me for the first time to say we had decendants in common, I replied but realised she was from Christchurch - just wondering if she is ok.
Very interesting to hear how you are all coping - my thoughts are with you
Pat
I wonder if anyone was in the tower? Just heart breaking for all the families local and international.

Your words tell a very descriptive story Mal, thank you.

The Courier Mail (Qld Daily paper) had a cartoon yesterday...the day before, showing a kangaroo with it's arm around a kiwi bird as they looked at the devestated cathedral. Another story, needing no words.
It has occured to me though, listening to Kiwis on the radio and reading the newspapers, that you lot are far more down to earth than we are over the ditch. During the Brisbane floods there were reports of "fatalities" "deceased" and other acronyms. While you lot simply call a spade a spade and say there have been "deaths". I think we've become a woosy lot, so politically correct.
Except for all us family historians of course, we go out of our way to find out who got born, who got married and who died.
