What was the cause of death?

Death certificate does not state cause of death.
I have copy of original Death cetificate that g.grandmother was given.
-
Have you looked for an RCE on Scotlandspeople?
-
Yes. Found death entry. can't read all of it. Could be 'Symcofe' with question mark after it. But not able to be sure.
-
Can you post the relevant part here?
-
Will try to post image.

Scan of Death entry for John Fraser
Can't read cause of death
Will take a bit longer as scan copy is too large to post. trying to make smaller.
-
Lets hope this works
-
I make it 'Syncope' - but as a cause of death ??
"Syncope: Partial or complete loss of consciousness with interruption of awareness of oneself and ones surroundings."
Regards,
Maurice
-
Agree Maurice.
Is there a number - 2 - after Syncope? The next bit is straightforward, 'seen after death' and then certified by the attending MD.

Thank you for this.
Its good to know that this is as baffling to you as it is me.
-
The causes of syncope can be grouped into four major categories, neurologic, metabolic, vasomotor and cardiac. Of these, only cardiac syncope commonly leads to sudden death
http://heartdisease.about.com/cs/arrhythmias/a/Syncope1.htm
Although cert is not specific as to what type of syncope he suffered from that led to his death, what it does seem to point to is that John's death is likely to have been due to medical reasons rather than an accidental death at the mine I would think.

That is amazing.
Its the most reasonable conclusion yet.
I would like to thank everyone that has helped with this problem.
Again thank you all.

Does his death record state that he died at the colliery and his usual residence was in Holytown?
-
Yes he died at the colliery and his usual address was Holytown.
-
Is there an RCE on SP?
-
Hey Alison hows you?
I don't have a great deal of information about Johns death. I did get in touch with the Colliery, but as he did not die from an accident, they did not hold any info on him, the only thing they could say was what s already on his death cert
I think they were living in Bothwell Haugh I will double check if they at Brandon Place and also time of death I think it was early morning
Alison this happened 4 weeks before Granddad was born. and Nan Kerr had already adopted uncle Bert.
will Pm you when I've check details
