Do you have him in 61 census.Did he stay in Carmarthenshire
-
yes I got him in 61 census in Carmarthen and also 1881 census in 60, Dumfries St, Ystradyfodwg Glamorganshire.

Nearest match I can find is:
RG10/2017/58/22
Thornford House, Thornford, Yetminster, Dorset
Gould, Hubert C Head M 39 Captain Militia. JP for Glamorgan b Trowbridge, Wiltshire
Gould, Isabel F Wife F 28 b Llanfrithtyd, Glamorganshire
Mainwaring, David Servant M 25 Butler b Aberdon, Glamorgan
I tried looking nationwide (well, OK, England & Wales!) for variations of Mainwaring.
There are 2 aged 22 (so born 1849), this one, another 2 aged 28 (b 1843).
All the others are 18 or younger, or 34 or older.
Your David could be overseas, or in Scotland?
Or there could be an awful transcription error! ;D

Thank you so much for your help.

Not sure about this because of the surname written by enumerator :-\ could have been a nickname....
1871 Lilly Row, Ystradyfodwg middle
David Mandy Lodger age 23 (or 25?) born Kidwelly Mason
in household of Evan Jones age 42 Shoemaker and his wife Janet
RG10 Piece 5384 Folio 14 Page 22

Mandry was an alternative Welsh form of Mainwaring which was used during this period. Several of my family switched from Mainwarings to Mandry and back to Mainwaring again.
It's possible that the enumerator in the 1871 census made a mistake and that David Mandy was David Mandry!
With best wishes
