This photo of the Jones Family was taken in Bethesda, Bangor, Wales. The photographer was Amilius Clarke & Son (we have another photo with this name on). The Clarkes were photographers in Bethesda from c1871 and the son was still there on the 1911 census.
Restoration would be nice but more important is a date if anyone can tell from the clothes please, Thank you

Around 1900ish. Could we see the whole thing uncropped please, and also the back if there is any printing on it?
Cheers,
China

I can't believe how good that restoration is , you will have made a young girl very happy (she is 13 and very keen on genealogy) she found this photo in her gran's cupboard and sent it to me so this is all I have. I have another photo which I believe is one of the men in the family photo and I post that. I will ask her to look at the back of the photo
Regards Jennifer
-
Please ask her not to crop the backing off. Everything's a dating clue.
Cheers,
China

this is the other photo that she sent to me. Ok China will do and thanks for the advice

Need to see the back, if there's any design or printing....because a photo like this is very hard to date. men's clothing didn't change much, and there is very little of it to see.
Best to start a new thread for every photo...some restorers are still on dialup and don't revisit old threads.
Although your friend would probably have to look for the word "dialup" in a dictionary :D

Oh nice, Irene!
Speaking of Irene......what are you doing here?? :o
-
Yes very nice Irene.
Now if I manage to get an uncropped version of the family photo and scans of the back should I start a new thread or continue this one ,
Jennifer
-
Continue this one, as it's the same photo :)
Cheers,
China

many thanks China, I have e-mailed her to ask for the uncut version and back of photo.
Thanks for your advice Jennifer

Irene, on her way now ;D ;D ;D

I'd go a bit later for the 1st. at 1905-10.The 2 girls offer the best clue as blouses with the close fitting forearm was a style that arrived around mid decade.
Agree the other we need to see the reverse.

and reverse.........

Remarkably similar photo, isn't it George. Not sure about the cardstock though, think it might be later. It's our Greek lady friend, when did we put that, was it about 1900?

I would like to thank you for all your replies and and information. I have been in touch with the girl who has the photos and she says there is nothing on the back of the photos, just plain.
However I have got the full scan of the family photo which is here:

Hi China I have another with very similar attire and similar ends to the moustache that is dated circa 1900.

thanks for your replies and input. I did look up Amelius Clarke in Bangor on census returns and he appears to be there from 1871 onwards, he died in 1906 but his son is still a photographic agent in 1911.

I have a few of these cards. The son took over the photography business from father and actually lived in the High Street in Llanllechid.

And this is Amilius senior who looks a bit like thye gentleman in the original family photo
