Logbooks of HM ships were primarily Navigational records. They will not contain crew lists but may refer to individuals.
You will note that the Logbook only runs until May 1861. This is the last logbook available for this vessel.
If there were later ones it would seem they have been lost or destroyed.

Did you ever get the log? I am interested in leading stoker Daniel Leary who was on board. The 1861 Census has all the personnel recorded under: Residence : 1861- Mediterranean, Vessels, Royal Navy, England

There are two service records available for him on the National Archives website, one pre the other post 1873.

Many thanks for that. I think the second record is for his service in the coastguard, although the date of volunteering looks wrong. Perhaps that is the date he joined the navy and his service is continuous from that date.

Sometimes the early Service Records are a little vague when it comes to postings to the CG Service. If his last ship was HMS Virago, in 1865, then his first posting should be Union Hall CG Station. Using the ADM 175 records it is possible to trace his movements up to the mid 1870's.
Also there are a number of Dan Leary's on various medal rolls, notably for the Crimea War. If you don't have access to these, then if you can provide a list of ships, and the dates he served on them, I will happily check the rolls for you.

I've now had a chance to look at his record, and at the time of the Crimean War he was serving on HMS Trident, a 6 gun paddle sloop, engaged in anti slavery patrols off the SE coast of America.
As I suspected, his first posting in the CG Service was to Union Hall, Cork. On the 23 December 1866 he was sent to Dawlish then on 2 April 1867 to Budleigh Salterton, then Dartmouth, and finally Torquay, from where he was pensioned. You should be aware that although during his CG Service his name is against that of a ship, this was only for administrative purposes, the men still worked at land based CG Stations. However, they were still expected to undertake training cruises on this vessel, and should the need have arisen, manned this ship in time of war.
According to his record he received the RN Long Service Good Conduct Medal on 11 June 1875, only two years after CG Men became eligible for this award.

Therefore it is possible he married in Cork between leaving Virago in 1865 and going back to England in 1866. How did you know he started in Union Hall?
Thanks again for all the help.

I constructed his CG Service from the ADM 175 records. These can be downloaded from the NA website for free, but be warned they are very large files.
On the question of Union Hall, this was in ADM 175/20 (pdf 114), CG Establishment Book.

Martin,
From his record I see that he was back on board Achilles as a stoker from 3/5/1878 to 19/8/1878 which was when she was in the Dardanelles during the Russo Turkish war scare.
Many thanks for all your help
