Title: McGlynn, Carlin families
Post by: dlt on Wednesday 02 March 11 00:17 GMT (UK)
Hi
Does anyone have these family names in common?  I've traced them back to Kilteevogue, Donegal ( Garvan and Ballykergan)

Any info would be appreciated

 ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Without christian names and birthyears it would be impossible to tell.  I have Carlin's in my FH but as all census entries just show their birthplace as Ireland (as many did) without christian names/birthyears I wouldn't know if there was a connection

I saw your other post re: McGlynn in Glasgow with Irish origins

The Scottish 1901 has 88 entries for that surname - all b Ireland.  Not one shows the actual county within Ireland

Interested.  Where did the family settle?   Glasgow East or Maryhill?
I take it that it is Patrick McGlynn of Garvan; son of Peter and Rose (Bradley of Ballykergan).  My enquiry is - Is this the Patrick McGlynn who was at Kildonan St, Coatbridge in 1901 before he was married in 1902?  Patrick returning to Ireland and marrying Grace Carolin; dau' of Charles and Grace (Magee).
