Hi,
I am trying to see if I can add some detail to two records which may be of help to my research. I hope to trace my grandfathers second marriage in Dublin. His name was Andrew O'Brien and his new wife was Ellen (no surname) In the Civil Registration Indexes I found one marriage record for Andrew O'Brien Jul-Sep 1910 Dublin South, film No 101262, Volume No 2, Page No 653, digital folder No 4199364, Image No 00100.
Also found a record for Ellen O'Brien for the same qtr. Jul - Sep 1910, same Film No, Volume No, Digital No and Image No. The differences were registration was Dublin North and page No was 469. According to the 1911 census Andrew and Ellen had been married for 7 months and along with 4 of the children from the first marriage (my dad included) were living at 133.3 North Strand Road, North Dock Dublin. Based on this, a marriage in Sep 1910 would have been about right. Any suggestions on how I can fill in the blanks?
Thanks!

For there to be a possible marriage, the details that need to match on the Index are the registration district, year/quarter, volume & page number. If these are all the same then it mean the two names appear on the same page of the marriage register, and therefore may have married each other.
There is a possible cross match to the Andrew O'Brien record you mentioned, but due to the number of results for both the groom and bride it is possible that it's not the correct couple.
Name: Ellen Geoghegan
Registration district: Dublin South
Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Jul-Sep 1910
Volume : 2 / Page : 653

Thanks Shane,
It may not be the correct match, bit it is a lot closer than I got! Other than ordering the marriage cert, which I will do if it is correct. Is there any way I can find out what info is on the marriage certificate before ordering a copy? Although unemployed at the time of the 1911 census, Andrew was a Pavior which appears on both the 1901 census, and his death certificate.
Thanks again!

you need to order a cert to see the full details.
I think you may be looking at part of the the same family as Chris5856 - same name (Andrew O'Brien), address (133 North Strand in 1911) and same occupation...

Thanks Shane,
I thought that might be the case so I think I'll gamble on this one and order the cert.
You were right about Chris, he's my nephew and we're sharing the frustration of chasing O'Briens in both Ireland and Liverpool.

hi, Ellen Geoghegan was my great grandmother. she married Andrew O'Brien Widower,on the 4th September 1910. Andrews address is shown as 8 West Road Dublin. Would of been about 49. occupation is shown as pavior.
His first wife was Jane Kehoe, whom he married in 1879. Jane died in 1909.
My grandmother was Margaret Mary O'Brien. Born to Andrew and Ellen in 1911. Later married Henry McGuirk and lived in Spenser Street Bootle.
Ellen remarried in 1917 a John Blundell. Not much information about this. She died in 1961 in Nazerath House Crosby. aged 84. She is buried in Ford cemetery along with her granddaughter Margaret McGuirk aged 4, and her own child to John Blundell aged six months.
I am trying to find the name of my great grandmothers mother. Coleman is a name that I have come across, as we know her father was John Geoghegan (Maria Coleman) .
I do hope this is of some help to you
