Title: Barbara Parker - Bellingham/Simonburn/Wark
Post by: emmab57 on Tuesday 01 March 11 13:10 GMT (UK)
Hi all,

Can anyone help me find a birth/baptism of Barbara Parker born about 1842.  I have her on some census records but her place of birth varies from Bellingham on one and Wark on others.

I do know that she was the daughter of George Parker and Barbara Bell and that she married Matthew Barron.

I just cannot find a birth registration.  Her older sibling by two yearsGeorge is registered and I have found him in Simonburn baptised 20th June 1840, I have also found a sister, Dorothy baptised in March 1846.

I think I have found that George Parker was born on 16th Jan 1808 son of John Parker and Margery Dove.  I have not been able to find Barbara Bell at all.  Some census say she was born in Haltwhistle and others that she was born in Knaresdale.  I think it would have been around 1811?

Any help on this part of my tree would be great

 :)

This is possibly what you are looking at. Barbara is a name clerks seem to have had trouble spelling back then. On the original it looks like Barber - at least to me

Births Jun 1842
Parker  Barker    Bellingham  25 243

Oh thank you so much!  That may be the one!  I will order the certificate.  If you have any joy on her parents that would be great.

Kind regards

Emma

The IGI

http://www.familysearch.org/eng

has a Barbara Bell born 1810 Haltwhistle the daughter of William Bell and Sarah Teasdale

which may be worth investigating (the pages on the familysearch pilot site

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start

are down at the moment - when they are back up it may be worth searching to see if they have a copy of the actual baptism image)

Thanks!

I had looked at pilotfamilysearch for her in Haltwhistle and not found it!  I have tried to look again but as you said the site is down at the moment.

That has been a great help!

I have some great new leads now.

You need to look here http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#w=0&p=waypoint&s=waypointsOnly&c=fs%3A1309819
Select Northumberland, then Haltwhistle 1758 - 1850, enter 253 in the box marked image and press the enter key on your keyboard.
It is a Shute Barrington entry, so there are some useful details there for you.

If you are  a member of ancestry there are a few trees on there with Barbara and\or George on them that may be worth a look.

If you are not a member it may be worth checking to see if your library is as some have a subscriptiom to ancestry.

Hi all,

Thank you JenB, I have had a look and that is so great!  Have been stuck at a standstill for a while and just got back into it again, now I am up all night again!!

Davidft,  Thanks again for your help.  I am a member and I have started to build my tree up and that alone has given me a lot more hits!  My tree has doubled in size thanks to your efforts.

Kindest regards
