I'm not researching this family, but do have one or two resources for Marlesford.
You may already have this; in the 1841 census:
Charles HALL, 40, carrier
Maria HALL, 40
James HALL, 20, carpenter
William HALL, 15
Charles HALL, 9
Henry HALL, 7
George HALL, 2m
Eliza HALL, 14
Mary HALL, 11
Lucy HALL, 3
Baptisms:
Henry HALL, 19 July 1835; parents Charles HALL, innkeeper, Marlesford and Maria HALL
Lucy HALL, 15 July 1838; parents Charles HALL, carrier, Marlesford and Maria
(so Charles changed his occupation between 1835 and 1838)
I hope this is of some use.

Hello Arumlily,
Thanks for the reply. Lucy Hall married Samuel Harmer Smith and had - as far as I can discover - nine children. Interestingly the Inn at Marlesford still stands but is now a private house. In the Church in Marlesford there are plaques to the Hall family - but I do not think that they are anything to do with our line. Incidentally we obviously have the same DNA floating around us! I think that Charles Hall was born in Kettleborough Suffolk in 1799. I am looking at the tree I have and it would appear that Lucy was my father's Aunt. Nice to speak with you.
