I am interested in the (demolished) mill at Withycombe/Marpool near Exmouth. The old mill wheel in part of a floral display near the Esplanade and was made by Berry and Son of Woodbury.
My gggrandfather was Abraham Berry, and my ggrandfather was his son Tom. Tom died in 1881 and Abraham in 1883. I am assuming that the wheel was built by them, but I'd like to confirm it. Perhaps someone can tell me some of it's history, and when the wheel might have been put in place. I understand the Long family ran the mill until the 1960s. Its the only tangible thing I have touched from their foundry/agricultural works and I'd like to know some more.

There was a old mill building and water wheel in Withycombe Village Road at the point where Phear Park is opposite the old Exmouth Grammar School. That building itself burnt down in the summer of 1964. If you want an image of it go to an antiques fair and look for it on the postcard stall. I have 2 different post cards - dating from the 1920's I think - that have quite good pictures of it.
