any information on moorehouses, they were farmers around this area, coolrainey, baltinglass, cant find them on any census, they were c.of i. any info will be greatly appreciated, tom
-
Your haven't given any names of dates but there are quite a few people named Moorehouse/Moorhouse in both 1901 and 1911 census who were Church of Ireland.
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search
If you can provide more details we might be able to find more information for you or suggest where to search next.

thomas moorehouse married to mary?they had 6 children i think, eldest son named thomas, also married mary.i am sure thomas was born pre 1900.i think he was also a farmer, thats all i know for now thanks tom
-
Which Thomas (father or son) was born before 1900?
There's a Cooolrainey in Co. Wexford.
-
the father born around 1900 or earlier, the son born in 1920,s i think, snr and jnr were both farmers, tom
-
The son would not appear in any available census record but the father should appear in 1911 and perhaps 1901 which are both now online. However, it might be difficult to know which, if any, is correct census entry without other collabrative details.
The marriage certificate of Thomas (b.c1900) will list his residence (which may not be the same place he was born or where his family lived) and should also list his father's name and occupation (unless illegitimate).

thomas moorehouse died 26-2-1933 age 45,mary died 22-9-1965,coolnarrig is the name of the farm where he lived.tried both census,no luck
-
So Thomas was born c1888- I was looking for a younger child since you didn't say how long before 1900 he was born :-\
This is possibly Thomas (age 14) with mother Frances- (Coolinarrig Lower is the name of the townland):
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Wicklow/Eadestown/Coolinarrig_Lower/1809366
And in 1911- Frances/Fannie mother of 3 children (2 living):

where did you find the family on the 1901 census ? (i.e. which townland)
Your first step would to search for a birth for one of the children, as this would give you the father's name and mother's maiden name. It's easier to search for a marriage when you know both parents names.. especially in this case, since I presume you dont know when they married.

(census details removed - just saw that townland and census links were already mentioned by aghadowey)
the townlands of Coolinarrig Lower and Upper are near to Baltinglass and in the Civil Registration District of Baltinglass.
Assuming that the family came from this area originally then there is a good match for the birth of Thomas on the Civil BMD Index :
Name: Thomas Moorhouse
Registration district: Baltinglass
Event type: Birth
Quarter and year: Jul-Sep 1886
Volume number: 2 / Page : 363
There's also a death for a possible father to Thomas in the same district at a time that could fit (i.e. two years after Thomas's birth)
Name: Thomas Moorhouse
Registration district: Baltinglass
Event type: Death
Quarter and year: Oct-Dec 1888
Age : 44 (est year of birth c1844)
Volume : 2 / page : 264

There doesn't appear to be any Moorehouse households (as either occupier or lessor) in the townland of Coolinarrig Lower at the time of Griffith's Valuation in the area (1854).
Occupants of Coolinarrig Lower - Griffith's Valuation (http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNameSearch&PlaceID=1428973&county=Wicklow&barony=Talbotstown,%20upper&parish=Baltinglass&townland=Coolinarrig,%20lower)

a possible sister to Thomas, from the extracted civil birth records on familysearch :
Name: [Female] Moorhouse
Birth date: 21 Dec 1874
Birthplace: Coolinaing, Wicklow and Carlow
Father: Thomas Moorhouse
Mother: Frances Eager
The birth appears to have been registered before a name was decided.

-
and a possible marriage from the BMD Index :
Name: Thomas Moorehouse
Registration district: Baltinglass
Event type: Marriage
Year: 1872
Volume : 7 / Page : 419
and a possible cross match for wife Frances :
Name: Frances Agar
[index details match - so Frances appears on the same register page as Thomas]

....
Most of the townlands in the Poor Law Union of Baltinglass are in Co. Wicklow but it also includes a number of townlands in counties Kildare and Carlow.
You can check a list of the townlands included in the PLU on the townland database at www.thecore.com/seanruad Enter Baltinglass in the Poor Law Union search box and click search to view the list.
(A Poor Law Union usually corresponds to a Registration district)
The townlands of Knocklishen More & Beg are in eastern county Carlow and to the north west of Hacketstown. The townlands appear to be very close to the Carlow/Wicklow county border. The Wicklow village of Kiltegean is only about 4km to the north east. See Knicklishen More, Carlow to Kiltegan, Wicklow (http://www.google.ie/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Knocklishen+Beg&daddr=Kiltegan&hl=en&geocode=FUMCJwMd8K2a_ym770KdE4tnSDFiFSG7p8cAJg%3BFWtGJwMdEzSb_ynfMRaNfYxnSDEAhjGXqccACg&mra=pr&sll=52.892542,-6.650505&sspn=0.060275,0.165825&ie=UTF8&ll=52.892645,-6.648617&spn=0.060068,0.169601&z=13) (google map)

thanks adgadowney,a great help,i should have been more observant, tom
-
Just had lots more practice probably ;)
If you can't find a family anywhere in Ireland-
1) search in the area you know they lived earlier/later but with only part of surname or without surname
2) search by first name and age or birthplace, etc. (especially good for uncommon first names)
-
Hi my great grand father was John Moorhouse and his brother was thomas but i dont know much abotu his family i have a marriage cert for James Moorhouse and Mary Jackson and i know James fathers name there deaths were both registed in Bauntinglass and i know the dates but not sure were thre buried. We had a family reunion yesterday and my cousin is on facebook and she might be able to help you if you want to addd me as a friend you can
-
John?
You say John but in fact the registered marriage states James married Mary Jackson 12 Dec 1854 in Rathvilly Co Carlow Ireland - one must always check the border registers when researching border towns.
His father was Thomas
I have a child named James Moorhouse ( sic) born 28/4/1868 at Kiltegan Co Wicklow Ireland for this couple, but of course you should in fact be able to assist me with more children, as it is your family.
Mary Jackson's father was William
Siblings for James are:- Lucy, married Jones
William married Killeen
I am guessing there would also be more children among this family also, would like your assistance also on those if at all possible
