I have found a Richard Harvey born 1798 in Costessey and also his brother James Harvey born 1808 Costessey, who were part of a poaching ring in Costessey in the 1820's. Their parents were Richard Harvey and Sarah Lovett.
In my tree I have William Harvey born 1791, who may have married Elizabeth Bullock in 1813.
I am trying to find out if William, was a older brother to Richard and James, and Richard and Sarah were his parents.
any help with this would be gratefully received.
regards Eileen

Hi just read your message. Have you tried looking at the Norfolk Transcription Archive for your Harveys. I notice there is the birth of a Sarah Lovett in 1767 in Costessey - parents Henry and Frances Lovett. the web site is www.genealogy.doun.org just search on the surname listings

Thank you for your reply Batty, I have look on Norfolk Transcriptions, but the years 1790, 1792, and 1793 for births are missing, I expect William was entered in the year 1792!
thanks again,
Eileen

Hi Danielle
This is a very old post!
I found out that I was on the wrong track with William Harvey being in my tree, as I had traced back from George Harvey 1877 Costessey, when in fact my man was George Ellis Harvey 1878 Norwich, my Husbands grandfather.
I never did find out if William was brother to Richard and James Harvey but think it is very likely. my husband was very disappointed he was not connected to the costessey poaching ring! what a wonderful story!

Hi,
Thats a shame, was hoping you could tell me if William was brother to Richard and James, I have found 3 sisters for them also!
Could you tell me how you found out about the poaching ring? If William is part of this family, you are right, it is a wonderful story!!

Hi
I found out about the Poaching ring via Google when I was looking for info on Costessey.
http://webspace.webring.com/people/pt/tombarley/poachers19.html#The%20Poaching%20Wars
I did in fact contact Tom Barley to ask if he knew if William was part of the family but alas he did not!
hope you can in time connect him to the family!
Eileen
