I am trying to find where my BLOOR family originated from but to no avail so far. The earliest birth I have is for Mary BLOOR born Whitford 1782, daughter of Thomas BLOOR and Mary EDWARDS, abode at baptism was Tre Abbot, Whitford. But we can't find where Thomas or Mary are from. If anyone has the marriages of Whitford records for about 1780 and can look up for me please I would be very grateful.
Kind regards
Nerys

I have marriages 1779 - 1812 for Whitford and the only mention of Bloor is a John Bloor who married a Martha Williams, but it does say that John is from Llanasaph (Llanasa) so it's possible your Bloors came from there too. I think Taidcazgaz has the Llanasa records and would probably look for you ;D

Ps Am I correct in assuming you have all the baptisms for the children of Thomas and Mary?

Hello Nerys
Have you tried Jill Rose's site http://www.namesfromclwyd.org.uk/ for clues on early BLOOR families? It states that the name originated in Staffordshire and indeed the bulk of Bloor baptisms on the IGI appear to be Staffordshire.
Another tack that you might try would be to search the Hayes Marriage Index for 18th century marriages in North Wales
As a matter of interest are there any children named Isaac in the family you have found so far?

Found baptism of Mary Bloor, daughter of Thomas and Mary, 12th January 1781, at Newmarket (now called Trelawnyd) Parish Church. Abode is given as Whitford. Note that Tre Abbott, whilst in the parish of Whitford, is closer geographically to Trelawnyd, as is Plas Capten,
The marriage of Thomas Bloor and Mary does not appear in the Trelawnyd registers. There are quite a number of Bloor references, so if you wish, I'll look them up for you.
Tecwyn.

Thank you for all the replies. We think we have all baptisms for Thomas and Mary's children, but could be wrong there. . My line follows Joseph Bloor who was born Cwm in 1787. It is frustrating because the names are so common and we have no idea where these Bloors originate from, or Mary Edwards either. We have a feeling that Plas Captain is connected to our Bloors.
I would be very grateful for any look-up in surrounding Parishes to at least try to find a marriage between Thomas and Mary to give me a starting point.
I had forgotten about Jill's site :) I'll have a look there too. But I do think the origin of these Bloors will take me eventually to Stafford.
Kind regards

Hi Nerys,
I am the grandson X 5 of Thomas Bloor who was the father of the Joseph Bloor you are researching. I am related via Joseph’s sister Mary’s first marriage to John Davies. Their son William Bloor Davies was my grandfather X 3. I have a great deal information about Thomas Bloor and his family and suspect that if we put all the information we have together we will have a pretty complete picture. I first came across your interest in the Bloors in your exchange of e-mails with Patricia on rootsweb in 2007 and e-mailed you at your AOL address and included a lot of the information that I have. This included a copy of Thomas Bloor’s will. As I have not heard back from you I wonder if the AOL address is no longer current. I am a relative newcomer to RootsChat so I am not sure whether they discourage giving e-mail addresses on the forum but I suspect they must have a way of making direct contact. If you could forward me either an e-mail or postal address I would be happy to share with you all the information I have. I am afraid I have too much to include in this response. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Alan

Hi Alan,
I apologise, I thought I had responded to your initial e-mail and wondered why I hadn't heard back from you too, I will double check now. Update for now anyway, my mam went to Ruthin archives yesterday and lo and behold couldn't find anything to do with Thomas Bloor at all, no baptism which is what we mainly wanted. I will pm you what details I have as the whole Bloor thing is complicated on my side.
Kind regards
Nerys
