Going by the age of the children this seems to be his parents marriage.
Sept 1868 in Derby
John Dodd and Eliza Richardson ref 7b page 560

-
Using the 1911 census index- he seems to be in Audenshaw with his parents still single and age 33.
So any marriage would have to be after that date or in Oz..............do you know when he travelled out there?

FindMyPast have a Joseph F Dodd of 95 Guide Lane, Hoole Hill, Manchester; aged 44, a moulder, travelling 3rd class to Melbourne on 8 Mar 1922 on ship Baradine. No wife
I know that his middle name should be T not F, but this is a typed form, perhaps typed up froma handwritten entry? and I can see how an elaborate T could look like an F........
-
T and F are very near each other to be swopped in the typing !
The age and job certainly fits. That's great Spider ;D
Do you know for sure that he did marry then?

Looking at WWI service records, there is a very badly damaged collection for Joseph Thomas Dodd. I am pretty certain it is our JTD because there is mention of Hoole Hill and Guide Lane. I think it says that JTD enlisted but then deserted at some point and re-enlisted under the name of Joseph Thomas. Might be worth asking one of the Armed Forces experts to cast their beady eyes over the records.

hi
yes this is my joseph thomas dodd . 95 guide lane is were his sister lived
i dont know if he ever married but would like to know what he did in australia
anything about his time in australia and if he had a wife and children out there
regards mavis
-
hi
just seen your army records for joseph thomas dodd so he was a deserter in ww1
then you think he joined up again as joseph thomas . so he went to australia 4 years after
ww1 can you find out more about his war records or do i have to do it ?
would still like to find out more about his life in australia
regards mave
-
As I said before, his army record is very badly damaged but I have been trying to work out what happened to JTD. It looks like he enlisted in 1915 in Loughborough, giving his mother who was living at 95 Guide Lane as his next of kin. I think he joined the 10th (2nd Res) Bn Leicestershires, and went AWOL on 18th October 19?
He was caught in January 1916 and placed with 11th Labour Bn R.E. A service number mentioned is 125308, Pioneer Thomas. J.
In Dec 1916, it looks as if he was declared medically unfit for services, and invalided out.
It might be worth asking on the armed forces board if anyone knows of any further details of his service career
-
And I think he was awarded three medals: Victory, British and Star.
-
He travelled out to Australia aged 44,in 1922,and died in 1927.
He wouldn't have had long to find a wife and had children and he was quite old by then!
So my guess is that he didn't marry.
You could always get his death cert of course- or start a new thread on the Aussie boards (linking it to this one) to see if anyone can find an obit.
