Hi good people of Herfordshire

My man William Thomas died at Cheshunt in 1871 and accordingly is buried At "Chesent Cemetery"which is all that is stated I have checked the Bury green cemetery and St.Mary's church but nothing is on record of any interment but there is a cemetery in Broxbourne which (so I am infored) is also called "Cheshunt cemetery" could this be the case.
any views always welcome

Hi Paul
There is a Cheshunt cemetery that is administered by the Borough of Broxbourne. Could this be it?

Hi Rick
I did look at this myself and it could well be the one, I think it contains more "Searing's" as well as my man I need to locate the cemetery records to get a thorough search undertaken. do you you think they would be held at HALS or local?

Hi Rick
I did not read your link correctly.
I have all known burials from a search for Bury green although around 30 Searing are there my man is not, there is a cemetery in Broxbourne on Ware road this was the one I thought my throw a light on.
Chesent Cemetery could also come under the same heading on Ware road.

Cheshunt St Mary burial records are available at HALS but you have checked these. Apparently Cheshunt Cemetery records are available for public inspection during office hours according to the Borough of Broxbourne website.

Hi Rick
I had signed up to Deceast on line and have obtainted Williams Searings burial and grave location within the cemetery, having emailed Broxbourne people to locate the Cemetery they seemed somewhat confused as to which cemetery we are talking about.
My man is buried in "Cheshunt cemetery, Heartfordshire (Bourough of Broxbourne) and the reply I had was it could be Bury Green or Ware road in Broxbourne which also seem to be called Cheshunt cemetery.
The burial heading only has Cheshunt cemetery on the cemetery book, my hunch it is Broxbourne I have scans from entrees in bury green and the are different to the way this one is laid out.
just my thoughts

Hi Paul
You are a bit off track it is Hoddesdon cemetery that is located in Ware Road. But give the cemetery office at the Borough of Broxbourne a call. They are so helpful. I have managed to locate quite a few family graves with their help and by telephone. Pretty certain there is a cemetery in Cheshunt but not quite sure where. 1871 might be too early but the kindly ladies in the office could certainly tell you.
If you draw a blank, Hertfordshire Family History Society have been recording many of the church memorials throughout the county. Have a look at the website to see what churches have been recorded.
Hope this helps
Cheers
