Title: Personal Local and Family History Resources
Post by: Chris Penrose on Sunday 21 November 04 12:03 GMT (UK)
I have acquired a good deal of experience in resources, both Primary and Secondary, since I first posted.

I have resources for Yorkshire, and considerable ones for Cornwall where I was born. I have a copy of British Family Names, which details origins of surnames as at the start of the 20th century, also including details of all landowners down to sub-tenants following the Norman Conquest.

Please start a thread in the appropriate requests section so others can benefit from the results - you never know, a relative may be found who reads your post.

I DO NOT CHARGE FOR RESEARCH, SO PLEASE DO NOT OFFER!

Cheers

Chris Penrose

Title: Birstall & Batley in the 1700s
Post by: ChrisBros on Wednesday 26 January 05 00:49 GMT (UK)
I have access to most of the microfiche and some booklets for Birstal for the 1700s and also some transcripts for Batley for the same years.  I can also find details for a few years either side.
A few of the fiche are almost unreadable but if you have approximate dates I'll see what I can find.

For a lookup request please start a new topic in the census and resource lookup request board for this county

Always searching for Broscomb in all its forms and possibly even Broxup.  The family appears to have arrived in Birstall in the 1650s ....... but where from???

Just an amendment to my previous lookup offer  -I've had a few people asking me to lookup specific people for a specific address - these directories I have only state where the road/street is located in the city - there are no details of residents...
handy if your looking for a street that has now disappeared or if you dont know sheffield and you need some help locating where your ancestors lived...
Just thought id make that clear

Title: Royal Hotel, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury
Post by: suentimb on Tuesday 07 April 09 12:05 BST (UK)
Hi all

In the 1970's 80's and early 90's my father Allan Bickerdike was the publican at the Royal Hotel in Ravensthorpe. He did some research about previous landlords of the pub and made a list reaching back to 1863 when the pub was built to his departure in 1993.
If anyone feels they may have any connection with the pub drop me a line and I'll check the list.  Please start a NEW TOPIC on the West Riding LOOKUP REQUESTS board.
