I saw information that this newspaper etc was on line. Is there such an index on line for the Cardiff area? I am looking for any info on my husband's family who moved to Penarth in 1880s and have lived there ever since (the surname is Eidman/n) The family were involved in shipping, being marine engineers and one son was eventually a captain. Reached a bit of a brick wall at the moment!

Sorry I can't help with the Newspaper, but:
Have you tried searching the 1911 census...you can search the Index Free and then buy Credits to view the full census should you spot your family.
There is a William Eidman living at 6 Bradford Place, Penarth in 1907...no other details.

Thank you, yes, I have the 1911 census and its details. Its more background I'm looking for - what they were involved in at Cardiff and Penarth Docks etc.

Have you tried infotrac.galegroup.com.itweb-vglam.
You need to access the site with your library card number. There are a couple of mentions for Eidmann.

Sorry, that link didn't work for me, is it a web site? I do have a library card for Vale of Glamorgan, what is the connection?

Try going to Libraries on the Vale of Glamorgan site and follow the link from 24 hour library to newspapers online and choose 19th. century newspapers. Choose Western Mail. You will have to put your library card number in. Hope this helps.
