Can anyone enlighten me as to whether the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire boundry changed? I have a relative, James Perrin who was born in Hambledon, Bucks approx 1948 according to what he wrote in the 1881, 91 and 1901 census. But I can't find Hambledon as a parish in the information I have found on Bucks Family History site, nor on Oxfordshires.
Hambledon is near to Henley which is where a James Perrin is registered in 1843 but I don't know if its him.
In 1881 he is married to a Harriet who was born about 1847 and lists her birth place as Stoke Talmage in all her census reports. They are in Watlington in 1881, again listed in Oxfordshire but I can't find it listed in OFHS list of parishes. Ancestry seems to think its in Norfolk.
Their eldest child is Abrey J Perrin, born in Watlington in 1872. I can't find any birth records for him and although he comes up top of the list on the 1881 census there is no mention of him in the 1891 census.
Sorry, this is a bit rambling. Does anyone have any information about James or the areas that might clear up this mystery?

Thanks very much, that is a great help. I'll see what I can find out now.

Hambledon is in Buckinghamshire and has been for at least two hundred years. It is about three miles north east of Henley on Thames which similarly has always been in Oxfordshire. Watlington is about eight miles north west of Henley on Thames, also in Oxfordshire.

This is the reason why you cannot find Aubrey John PERRIN 1901 census
and probably the reason he is not on 1891 census, he's probably enlisted in the Army and serving abroad

Thanks :-)
When I looked a bit further at the information given by Ladyhawk, I managed to confirm about both. What is disappointing is that as far as I can see, neither Hambledon nor Watlington parish records are available on CD from their respective county family history sites.

Oxfordshire FHS have published the Watlington parish registers on volume 2 of the South Oxfordshire Parish Registers CD. This is I know available from Berkshire FHS and can be purchased on-line.
I would have expexted one of the two Bucks FHS to have published the Hambledon ones. Have you checked the Bucks sources board on this site?

That's great, I couldn't find Watlington. I'll have a look at that CD now I know its there. I didn't know that there were 2 Bucks FHS, I'll have another look.
