Deborah.

I have a book published in 1881, that recount's some of the people's memories of the Christmas time flood of 1795.
it's not much , just a small snippet , but in it , is this quote.

" Mr Joseph Coxen, now living at South Carlton by Lincoln, seventy six years of age , remember's the Spaldford bank breaking, and the flood of 1795, he sais, the water came up to fen lane, east of the old Decoy house, and the house was several feet deep in water, the occupier having to remove to village, All the country down to Lincoln was flooded for three week's.

the memories of the people were recorded in 1858.  so Joseph was born abt 1782  ???

 hope you like that  :)
