Title: BUCKTON families in Queensland
Post by: peewit on Friday 18 February 11 08:15 GMT (UK)
Trying to trace more details of the family of John William Buckton who emigrated to Queensland in 1910 with wife Sarah. At least 10 children known - Reginald, Mavis, Dorothy, Lilian, Ethel, Thomas Henry, Arthur George, William, Ailsa Heather and George but no birthdates or marriage details. Names of their families also known but no spouse names or dates. Can anyone help or point me in right direction?

There was no occupation listed for John in 1936, 1937, 1943 or 1954.

Looks like John married a Rachel ?? after the death of Sarah Ann Buckton in 1930, this probably occured in 1935 or 1936 because while I can't find a marriage registration in Qld up until 31st December 1934 for Rachel & John Rachel does appear on the 1936 Electoral Roll with John William.

John William Buckton (junior) enlisted in the Australian Army in WW2. http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/name.asp

Thanks for details submitted earlier. Since then I have made contact with three different Bucktons in Queensland and now have a steadily growing family Tree! They are of course distant, in more ways than one, and there are still many families where I only have scant information, but its great that through Search websites, I have been able to increase my knowledge. Thanks again.
