Title: "Tornado" voyages from England to Australia 1856
Post by: phipps1 on Wednesday 16 February 11 17:36 GMT (UK)
Has anyone come across physical details of the immigrant ship " Tornado" and its 1856 voyages from England to Australian ports ?

I have seen material on the Tornado in relation to its voyages from Scottish Ports to Australian Ports in the 1855 period but there is nothing that I can find relating to its route change in 1856.

I am trying to get the following things -

A picture of the ship Tornado.
Physical details of it- size, sail /steam/classes of passengers carried /route taken to Australia and so on.
I appreciate any information/leads very much.

Thank you !

Hi Phipps, I have an Irish ancestor named Mary Landers who was on that ship Tornado that arrived at Port Phillip in 1855.

I am keen to find out more about this ship too.

Stephen
