Can anyone find any information for William Eames from Llanengan in 1861 census? I have found one entry but in Liverpool and as a gun maker with unknown relatives. Ten years later he is a master mariner so not sure that what I found adds up really. ?

What year was he born?
Two came up in my search in Caernarvonshire (which I believe is where Llanegan is?)
William EAMES b 1852 Llandrog, and
William EMES b 1844 Llanfihangel Esceiflog
and there are also two in Anglesey:
William EAMES b 1840 Llanfihangel Trer Beirdd, and
William EAMES b 1811 Llanddyfnan.
The last one is the only married one with wife Lydia and children Griffith and Edward

hi there, You will find William Eames on 1851 P 24. He is recorded as Farm servant age 12 Born Llanengan. On page 22 of 1851 censes his family, but spelt Ems In 1861 he would be 22 and my guess at sea.

Thanks for your replies. Corinne I dont think any of those William Eames are my family. It does show however that the Eames or Emes name is more common in North Wales than I would have imagined.
Taffess I agree it is likely he would be at sea especially seeing as he is a sea captain by 1871 census. The record I found however shows a William Imes note different spelling born Llanengan living in Liverpool with an Edward Imes born Denbigh and Jane born Brynycroes. Cannot quite make out profession on the census but I think it says gun maker. This leads me to question whether it is the same William but age and place of birth are correct. My William also marries in Liverpool in 1865 where his profession is listed as mariner not master. Very intrigued by this.

hi Law 81, The William Eames and family born in Llanengan have no connection with Liverpool, as far as I can see, but there are many Eames living in Lancs.
