Hi
I have found a marriage between Mervyn Leo Connick and Sylvia Elizabeth D'Arcy Evans of Perth but do not have the year. Also would be interested in finding out about Sylvia's parents.
Mervyn Connick was born in 1916.
Many thanks

Hi
Debra has given an item that supplies an extensive family group, but just to complete with fuller given names for the parents.
Sylvia's father was Eyre Waller D'arcy-Evans
Mother Elizabeth
Here is a death notice for EYRE WALLER in 1926
I have not been able to discover what the "accident" was

A funeral notice tells he will be buried at the Fremantle Cemetery, but I cannot see him there yet, though there are others of the family including ELIZABETH.
This link will show the aristocratic lineage of EYRE WALLER.
Elizabeth was formerly McKenna. Her father appears to be JOHN and her mother MARY PURTELL
Here is the marriage in WA

Hi Debra and sparrett
Many thanks for the information regarding Mervyn and Sylvia. Sparrett the article you provided is intriguing I wonder what the accident was?
Thanks again
I wonder if D'Arcy-Evans Elystan [Bird John] who served in WW1 was related to Sylvia.

Sylvia had a brother named ELYSTAN CECIL D'ARCY-EVANS.
as a reading of the link given by Debra shows.
The marriage of the parents of SYLVIA and ELYSTAN (et al) was in 1891.
The birth date of the man of the name enlisted {AKA John Bird} ww1 is 1886.
He is possibly a relative of SYLVIA being related to her father EYRE WALLER D'ARCY-EVANS.

Elystan John D'arcy Evans AKA "John Bird" b.1890, brother of
Marian Sylvia Lucretia Evans
St. George Richards Waller Evans b. 31 May 1891, d. 3 Nov 1927
Eyre Freke Evans b. 21 Oct 1892, d. 14 Apr 1894
Hardress Waller Eyre Evans
He was my great grandfather. Elystan often seemed to falsify his information, dates, names - which makes historic research difficult and interesting. His military record lists tatoos including "Rough Rider" and "Sylvia & Daisy".
Original enlistment records: claims born in Bedford, England 1886 (1890 more likely or possibly in India), Lived in Allahabad, India with mother, and wife Daisy Maude nee Bird. Voluntary service with Light Horse (India) for 12 years.
1914 traveled to Australia in to enlist in Australian Imperial Forces 16-12-1915,as veterinary assistant 9th light Horse 30th reinforcement (sent to Egypt).
Discharged overseas 1917 after serving 147 days.
Was not ideal man or husband - notorious for interfering with young women - eventually abandoned wife Daisy and 2 children, who had emigrated to Aust around 1921?
Son - John Eyre D'arcy Evans - born India?
Daughter - Thora Sylvia D'Arcy Evans - Born 1921, Fremantle, WA
Wife Daisy Maude filed for divorce 1930 - then?
My grandmother was Thora Sylvia, her daughter, who grew up in Perth and went to Presbyterian Ladies College - married my grandfather Gwyn Roy Judd Hitchin m.1936, who was a magistrate at the Perth Childrens' Court. They div. 1938. He died in 1976.
After a long, strangely similar lifestyle to her father's, Thora sylvia d'arcy Hapgood (nee Evans) died 14 Nov 2009 in Rockingham, WA - without acknowledging her surviving original family and grandchildren who live nearby.
1925 onwards? Elystan John D'Arcy Evans disappeared to the Eastern States and had other relationships and children - one family in NSW/VIC, one in QLD. I have no personal knowledge of his fate and death, although it is said to be 1959.
My father regained and kept in good contact with his eastern half-aunts/cousins, and half-brother in the USA. He died 1994.

RE: Elizabeth was formerly McKenna. Her father appears to be JOHN and her mother MARY PURTELL
Sylvia's grandmother, Elizabeth's mother Mary Purtell is my Great Great Great Grandmother through her first marriage which makes me related to all the D'Arcy-Evans family
