I have been researching this couple, John Christie (joiner) and Grace Stuart. They married in Govan in 1874 and Ancestry has Grace Christie, age 29, born Tomintoul , living at 47 Helen Street, Govan in 1881. This seems correct but why can't I find this family on the Scotlands People, 1881 census?
I am going round in circles ...can anyone help?

Hi crombieburn
There are four entries showing on SP for Christie at 47 Helen Street, Govan, matching the number of Christies in the household you have found on the transcript - although nothing shows is you add first name of Grace :-\ Could Grace's name be mistranscribed? If you add a birth place of Tomintoul, one entry also shows there.

Thanks Monica, I tried putting address into advanced search on SP, still no luck.
Am I just being dense?? How did you do it?

crombieburn, there are two 1881 census options on SP. One being the LDS index, which lets you add address and place of birth and the other that compiled by SP, which is the more standard search screen you find for all the SP census searches.
Using the 1881 (LDS) search screen and address brought up the 4 entries there. Now tried it again with Grace and up it comes.....gremlins ;D

Many thanks for help given. I had not even noticed LDS 1881 census on SP. I have now found them there.
Both John and Grace have years taken off their ages, but other than that everything ties up. Maybe one of the lodgers answered the census questions?!
Thank you!
