Can anybody help?
I'm looking for details of the baptism of Joseph Fairfax, born in Nuneaton, between 28 January 1792 and 27 January 1793.

Hi Rob,
have looked in Nuneaton PC records between those dates and there is no mention of a Fairfax. Also on the IGI there is no record of any Fairfax births in Nuneaton at any time. Also looked at Chilvers Coton records which is the next Parish in Nuneaton.
The nearest I could get in Nuneaton was Jos. son of Robt and Ann Fortisque on 2 July 1792.
There were Fairfax's at nearby Ansley around that time. Would you like me to look there or have you any other ideas.

Hello Al
I would appreciate that very much.
Joseph gave Nuneaton as his place of birth on the 1851 Census.
He was discharged from 1st Dragoon Guards at the age of 43, and the online record also gives Nuneaton as his place of birth.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi Rob,
I will pop into the Library again tomorrow and see what I can find in Ansley

Hi Rob,
Have searched through six Parish records of churches surrounding Nuneaton but can find no mention of Joseph Fairfax. I thought Weddington might be promising but the pages are unreadable in those years, I can only presume he was born in Nuneaton but baptised elsewhere, if at all. There appear to be Fairfax's round the Warwick area at that time if that is any help.

Hello Al
Thanks for all that hard work.
I can only hope that his Army/Chelsea Pensioner records have the information I'm seeking.
I think I had better start planning a trip to Kew!
Thanks again.

I saw your message and wondered if you had contacted the Fairfax Society?
http://www.the-fairfax-society.org/
They are building many records and family links. It is UK based with links to the USA.
I belong to the Swarby branch of Fairfax [ many different spellings] and I believe there are 15 proven branches from early times.
