Post by: urrp on Thursday 10 February 11 18:24 GMT (UK)
all I know about joseph byrne is that he was married to kathleen who after his death remarried a bernard banks.  joseph died either in a fight or through going to someones aid, we are not sure which. I know kathleen was born in 1909 in dublin and died in 1967 in castlebrook dublin.
joseph and kathleen had a few children one of whom was ellen teresa bryne born 17 feb 1929 but came to wales for work, married and stayed, ellen died jan 1999.
any information on joseph and kathleen gratefully recieved.

The names are not uncommon so the first step would probably be to try to find some more details on the people you mentioned e.g. father's names, maiden surname for Kathleen etc

Probably the point to start is with the marriage of Kathleen and Bernard as this should show her father's name and occupation. Once you have that you could try to search for her marriage to Joseph... although with such a common name that could be difficult.

Do you have any idea when and where Kathleen and Bernard married ?

You could also try for the birth of Ellen on the Irish Civil BMD Index, but middle names are not always included, so there could be a few potential matches.

Could Kathleen have married Bernard Banks as late as 1948 ?

I'm not sure when they married, I have both of their death certificates and ellen byrne's birth certificate.

Here's a possible match for the marriage of Bernard and Kathleen from the BMD Index :

 Name: Bernard Banks
 Registration district: Dublin North
 Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Oct - Dec 1948
 Volume : 2 / Page : 421

There's two separate cross-matches to Kathleen (same year/qtr, reg. district, volume & page), one under her married name (Byrne) and another under her birth name (O'Reilly)

The earlier marriage is proving difficult to locate due to the common names and not knowing an approximate date. Do you know where Ellen fit in the timeline (i.e. eldest, middle, youngest etc) of Kathleen and Joseph's children, or approx.dates for any of the other children ?

Hi

I think you're talking about my Grandfather Joseph Byrne & Grandmother Kathleen & my Aunty Ellen!  My fathers name was James Byrne. Kathleen also lived in Gardiner street as a child.
Let me know if you think it's the same people you're after because I'd love to talk to you.

Kind regards
Jane :)

Wow Wendy! Peters definitely my cousin! So i guess your my cousin inlaw"? ;)
I've even been to Wales to stay with them. They were all amazing. Ellen was a laugh. I remember her making  us to do the birdie dance. Even Peters friend joined in! :)
Can you send me your email address via personal messages? It won't let me send a personal message until I've done 3 posts.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Love Jane
