Title: Blacksmiths
Post by: Ed8mund on Wednesday 09 February 11 14:58 GMT (UK)
Hi
I read somewhere that there is a grave in the Churchyard at Castle Bytham with an inscription about a Blacksmith.  Can anyone tell me the name of the Blacksmith.  My ancestor was a Blacksmith in the Castle Bytham area.
Thanks for any info.

Lincs archives has this document:

RIPPINGALE PAR/13/8
Register book for parish apprentices   1809-1818
Three entries only: John Barrow apprenticed to Edward Wilson, tailor of Aslackby; Henry Taylor apprenticed to Francis Allen, blacksmith of Castle Bytham; Isaac Moulds apprenticed to John Howett, tailor of Aslackby.

Hi Diddy
thank you for info.  I had seen this somewhere before and wrote to Rippingale Parish to see if they had any info on where the Blacksmiths was situated.  I didn't get any reply.
It must be my Francis Allen.  He was buried in Castle Bytham.
