I am searching for anything on the history of my Barrack ancestors from Ellon . The names William, James and Alexander seem to come up a lot. Our branch moved to Fiji in the mid 1850's with Alexander, who was a seafarer.
Thanks

Hi Jeanine,
Welcome to RootsChat.
Do you have any specific dates to match the names you are looking for.
There are 200+ on the IGI records for Barrack/Aberdeen.
Billy.

Hi Billy,
I have some information, my GG grandfather Alexander was born in Ellon in 1831 , he lived in Fiji and his son William was my great grandfather. My mother, Ruve, was born in Fiji and came to live in New Zealand after meeting my father who was in the RNZAF.
Regards
Jeanine

Do you know the names of Alexander's parents? If they are from the Barrack family of Shallowplough and Inverebrie, I can give you some information about them.
Graham.

Hi to all,
My grandfather Alexander Scarlet B was the older brother of William. I have a photo family tree of
all the descendants of Capt AB/Matilda through ASB but no photo of William . I have one of Maude Fenton
but no name on the back , so unsure,
bob

Graham,
Yes alexander B was born in Ellon 1831. His father Alexander William B born in 1802 , Foveran. His father William b born in Foveran in 1767. I can go back with certainity to William B born mill of Ardlethen 1670
married a Susannah Annand. With less certainity back to John Barrack born ca 1580.
If the system allows I can e-mail a 22 page of this

Hi bobbar,
The best way to exchange info would be to send a Personnel message to GR2 with your email address.
It is not recommended to post your email details as this just attracts spam and
will be removed,
cheers,
Billy.

Hi BobBar
From the three brothers that arrived in Australia (Alexander, James & George) I am the Great Great Grandson of George. I to have been able to go back to an Alexander Barrack marrying an Isobel Wishart in 1741. Beyond that documentary evidence of ancestory is limited. I would be finding out more about William born of Ardlethan and the history you habe on him.

To the descendants of Capt Alexander
Have any of you obtained a copy of his manuscript of his time in the pacific. The original is stored in New Zealand. I have a copy of both typed and hand written documents.

Hi Bobbar - I'm a great great grandchild of Alexander (via his first marriage) and would love to see the family history you mentioned in a previous post (22 pages). I can't figure out how to message you my email address, though. Would be very appreciative if you would message me.
Many thanks!

Welcome to Rootschat, kmbarrett. Once you have made three postings, you are able to send personal mesages. I'll send one to Bobbar and Damascena to say you have posted in this topic, just in case the system doesn't do so automatically.

Thanks GR2 - much appreciated :)

I have had a reply to my personal message from Damascena who wants to get in contact with you. In the margin of a posting you can see two wee circles. The first, with a head, is a link to your profile. The second, with a message icon, lets you send personal messages. You can only send/receive personal messages when the icon goes green. That happens after you have made three posts. It says you have made two posts. Make a posting in another topic (even just say: "Just making a post to allow me to send pms") and your message icon will go green.

Hi - I am researching descendants of an ALEXANDER TAYLOR B 1835@ Foveran, Aberdeen-Shire (my great grandfather). His father was also Alexander Taylor, a “Labourer” and his mother Jane Hendry (born about 1766) a Domestic Servant (not married to father). Jane's parents were Alexander Barrock – Agricultural Landowner - and mother Christian Barrock. Christian Barrock's mothers maiden surname was Brock. Interested if anyone can shed any light on these people. Thanks. Steve Taylor

Hi Bob
My great great great grandfather was George, brother of Captain Alexander barrack. George migrated to Australia I believe.
I'd appreciate any information you have on the barrack family tree and the Barrack family of Ellon
Cheers
