Hi,
Just clarifying here, the reply Ray is referring to was a private message regarding William's wives and children in Southleigh.
An extract from the private message relating to William's baptism -
"The Oxfordshire Family History Society has 4 cd's that cover the WITNEY Reg. Dist, and unfortunately I only have one of them - OXF-WIT03 which includes the parishes of Minster Lovell; Ramsden; Shifford; Southleigh; Standlake; Stanton Harcourt; Swinbrook; Taynton; Widford; Wilcote; Yelford. I did not find the baptism of William CARPENTER abt 1689 in any of them."
If anyone can check other parishes in Witney that would be a great help to Ray :-)

Hi Ray ...
You say that you think he was born/baptised in Witney - but he's obviously not there!
So may I make a suggestion that you try the OFHS's Oxfordshire Baptism Index (see "Search Services" at www.ofhs.org.uk). Although not quite 100% complete, it does include all the parishes around Witney so may be the best way to locate William. The Society make a very small charge (just a couple of pounds) for this, but it may be the quickest way to find him.

Hi again Ray
As I mentioned in the private message "The first entry of a CARPENTER in the Southleigh PR is the marriage of William to Elizabeth HAWKINS in 1736"
There are no earlier CARPENTER baptisms, marriages or burials in the OFHS Southleigh PR transcripts.
