I'm trying to find what happened to Ann after her marriage & the birth of her daughter Sarah Miller. I've read the record of her unruly behavior and return trip to Norfolk Is, and supposedly working as a prostitute in Parramatta. There is also mention of an Ann Martin having children to Samuel Howell around 1809 which I believe to be after my Ann Martin's death. There is another Ann Martin who arrived as Ann Toy and married John Martin, 'a negro' from the first fleet, thus becoming Ann Martin. I am wondering if the two have been confused, thanks, Rod.

I think this is Ann Toy/Martin who died February 12, 1806 at Parramatta so am loath to buy the death certificate at the moment. Is it possible to confirm it is the person you are looking for before you pay for a death certificate? thanks Rod

Hi Rod,
The 1806 death for Ann MARTIN would be a simple burial entry, civil registration did not start until 1856 - generally just a name and date. It is still worth having a look at the original entry in case an obliging minister popped in a bit of extra info.
Debra :)
