Does anyone have any old photos of Havant Street - Portsmouth : it's behind the pubs opposite HMS Warrier.
I've been up the Street a good few times in the last three years - but would absolutely love to see any pics of the Street when it had lots of houses and shops up it - obviously pre-WW2.
Many thanks indeed. I do have Trade Directories, so there is quite a bit of information on those, but to see photos of the Street where lived at ancestors lived would be brilliant. My lot lived at number 30.......apparently it was a coal merchants in the 1930's. And before then, they ran a Marine Trade Shop.
Much appreciated if anyone can post up anything or have any ideas where I could get photos from.

Have you checked with Hampshire Record Office or Portsmouth Museum Service? I think the latter would be the better choice - they may well have photos.
Otherwise the Francis Frith site:

You could have a look here -

They are his own property though, so you would have to contact him if you wanted to use any of his pics.

And possibly something on this site?

Thank you all for that information - lots for me to be looking into for the next couple of weeks.
Really appreciate that.
If anyone else has any more, that'd be fabulous.

If you scroll down to The Camden, this is the pub at the Queen Street end of Havant Street. It's still there but heavily boarded up
