Hi,
Just hoping someone can help or at least point me in the direction of someone who may be able to?
This photograph contains a pic of my great grand-dad. I always assumed it was a photo but on the reverse it says it is a postcard. There is no writing on there, (except the word postcard on reverse) it was never posted to anyone. There is no information on the front or the reverse.
Im just wondering if anyone has any idea as to what was being celebrated, or where it was?
Just incase the following information helps or provides any clues- My great grandad was born and bred in Liverpool. Lived all his married years in Kirkdale area and supposedly worked on the trams at one time though I have no idea as to what his role was. He died approx 1947
Would just love to know why the pic was made into a postcard

Hello Lesley
Pictures on postcards were the norm at this time & had been from early 1900's,the postcard being the photographic medium used.
As for the occasion it's hard to say but in this there appears to be a concertina door at the back & ladders on the left.
There are what looks like 4 women in this & a man at the back holding a glass of beer.
The men at the front are receiving a certicate possibly a merit award.
They are all dressed too smartly to have been on duty so a special annual occasion possibly.
If this was a tram depot I would expect to see more women & there are no tramlines.
Not much help am I.

Try google for "Liverpool Corporation Transport Trams"
They may have been getting Long service awards or Safety certificates.
