The above-named is reputed to have died at the Mental Asylum in Lochgilphead, Argyllshire - dates must be between 1900 and 1960. Does anyone know if public have access to such records ?

Is it possible to ask for some more details from you? The date range you have given is quite large so it would be handy to have some more information to narrow down your person. Do you have her birth year and/or where she was born? Also, was MacPherson her maiden or married name, and if the latter, who was her husband/marriage date/etc?
Just now I can't easily see a death that would match your Marie, but as I say, more details may help track it down on SP. :)
