Post by: Press on Thursday 27 January 11 20:37 GMT (UK)
Hi
Does anyone have any information the School at 62 Catherine St. St. Albans.  On travelling past I notice written in the building it is called the St. Albans Board School.  How long has this been there?  It is a private School?  etc.

Any help appreciated

 says:

The board schools in St Albans were built around the end of the nineteenth century following two acts of parliament in 1870 and 1876 which established the prinicples of universal compulsory education for all children until the age of 12. They also included Bernard's Heath School, Hatfield Road School, Alma Road School and Garden Fields School on Catherine Street (now the Jubilee Centre).
