Title: 1859 newspapers for Frodsham/Kingsley?
Post by: ASheriff on Thursday 27 January 11 19:38 GMT (UK)
Hi all,

Does anybody know which newspaper would be likely to cover the Frodsham and/or Kingsley areas in 1859? My guess is The Chester Chronical, but I can't seem to find out for sure.

I obtained a death certificate for a Francis Herrin "razor grinder" d. May 1859. The registrar was notified by the Coroner with cause of death given as "found dead in bed". An inquest was to be held on 17 May 1859 and I'd very much like to find out the outcome.

Many thanks.

You could also try the Cheshire Observer which some on-line libraries provide free via Infotrac.

The inquest papers may still be in the Records Office in Chester (I have found some there in the past).

There was a newspaper specifically aimed at the Kingsley area. the name escapes me,but, hey!!! go to the Record Office at Chester, you will find a copy in their archives..You can get a copy printed off for your own use. My copy is out on loan to a  friend interested in Frodsham  local history  .
