Thanks Frances
These are my people. What I am looking for is birth, marriage, death and any thing else pertaining to George and Elizabeth and their family. I have just started on this line. I know Roots and Rootes has been used interchangeable in the records. Was this one spelt Roots?
Again thank you for your help :)

Hi Bob,
Yes the entires I posted yesterday were spelt ROOTS. I have had a quick look on the Parish Records without anymore success at the moment. Do you know if they may have moved to another village? An early census record look-up may help, always worth a try. Regards, Frances
I have found this on the IGI.

Frances, your so helpful............
They may of moved I don't know. My understanding is they were not in the 1841 census for Biddenden. Don't know about the 1851. There are other Roots families at Biddenden. I am not sure of their relations. I would think they bounce around the Weald of Kent. George father a base born son at Cranbrook on May 17 1824.
He may of been married to this Elizabeth at the time. Seems to of been a busy man. I know there were Roots at Marden and other areas but have not seen any church records. If I could find his marriage or find them in the census it would put me in the proper place. ???

Hi Frances,
Yes, Brenda and I have been doing this research together. I am the USA connection. We went as far as we could on the assume name line, so I went back to the Roots connection and Brenda was able to go to the Cranbrook records and found the bastardy order. I now have a copy in my hands. There may be a chance that George William Roots came to the US and settle in Illinois in the late 1840's early 50's. I am checking out that lead.
Is there an index for the 1841 and 1851 census of Kent and Sussex?

Hi Bob
Yes, there is a surname transcription for the 1841 and 1851 for the Eastern part of Sussex - and I have copies of same together with other records for East Sussex as listed here:

Hello
I'm Bob's distant cousin, Brenda, and we share descent from the illegitimate son of Mary Harris by George Roots, carpenter of Biddenden. I have only just found this forum, and don't have anything much to add except that I've been told that another Roots family in Bidenden at the time were related to the Rootes car manufacturers. Another branch of the same family?
Would love to hear from anyone with any further info re: George Roots.
