I am trying to trace details of Matilda McKinnon / Matilda Raymond / Matilda Chalmers. The background is as follows.
Matilda was born on 27/4/1888 at Craigard Road, Oban, Argyllshire. Her birth certificate shows that her parents were John (Ships Cook) and Jessie McKinnon (nee Gilchrist) who were married on 8/12/1882 at Chryston. I believe that John and Jessie McKinnon later moved to Glasgow, possibly to 89, North Street.
On 9/11/1909 Matilda married George Raymond (who was living at 4, Shaftsbury Street, Glasgow) at 89, North Street, Glasgow. Her occupation was given as French Polisher. Her husband George Raymond was killed in action on 23/09/1916 in France.
On 25/10/1920 Matilda married James Webster Chalmers (living at Hall Street, Walkerburn) at the Municipal Buildings in Oban, Argyllshire. (The marriage Certificate shows Matilda's address as 27, High Street, Oban and also shows her father John McKinnon as 'deceased') Matilda and James rented rooms at the home of William Reid at 25, High Street, Oban.
On 19/10/1922 Matilda arrived in Canada on board the S. S. Tunisia. She gave her name as Matilda Raymond (her deceased husband's surname) and her occupation as French Polisher. He intended address in Canada was c/o, Jessie McKinnon, 62, Beatrice Street, Toronto. The Toronto Directory of 1921 (Page 1091) shows Jessie McKinnon (widow) living there.
I would be obliged if anyone can help in tracing Matilda McKinnon, Matilda Raymond, Matilda Chalmers.

Hi harington59
You have quite a number of posts on the boards already on Matilda:
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,505687.0.html
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,505365.0.html
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,505531.0.html - includes links to various other linked posts in Canada/US boards
You have quite detailed info already. Can you be specific as to what sort of information you are looking for from this new post?

Hi,
Looks like I made a mistake - I've just recently joined the site - I have had some good results on my posting but thought that I would 'target' by placing a message on the board for 'Argyllshire' - from what you say it appears it also goes on the main board ??
However, in short, I have traced Matilda to Toronto but looks like she married again so I will have to trace other members of the family (decendants) until I come across any who are living and hopefully get some info. that way.
Regards,
Alister

Hi Alister
From the little I have read on the other posts, looks like Matilda lived out the rest of her days in Canada and this may be where you have to focus your searches for possible descendants for her.
If you are looking for more extended descendants from her siblings and relations in Scotland, hopefully someone may recognise the names you have and be able to add.
Care as always needs to be taken regarding including names and details of possibly living people here on RC :)

Hi. I am related to the Matilda McKinnon born in Oban. Her parents are John and Jessie McKinnon.
Is there a relation to you? Her father John is my great uncle. John's sister is named Kate and is my great grandmother. Kate's daughter, Hughina is my grandmother. According to the 1911 Scotland census, my grandmother (hughina) live with her uncle john McKinnon. She was 19 at that time.
